How to Clean Coffee Stains From a Book
It is a well known fact that only fewer things can compare with a good book and a cup of strong coffee. Unfortunately, in many cases the perfection is ruined by a simple movement and a following spill on your book cover. When such accident occurs you should act extremely quickly and most of all properly. Otherwise you will permanently ruin your book.
Considering that cleaning Woodgreen team provide the following tips on how to clean coffee stains from your book surface without causing more damages:
To begin start blotting up as much of the spilled coffee as you can, working with paper towels.
Place the paper towel to the “front” side of the spill, the side where the coffee touched the page. Put a damp cloth to the “back” side of the stain to lift up the liquid.
Combine 1 teaspoon of white vinegar and 1 quart of cold water. Treat the coffee stain with it the vinegar cleaner working with a clean rag. Do this starting from down toward the edges. Lay a dry rag on the back side of the page to avoid eventual vinegar speeding and damaging more pages of the book. After covering the whole stain area with the solution, start blotting up at the spill with a clean rag. Lay the rag over the stain, press down, then lift. Repeat several times to remove as much of the spill as possible.
Then place your book in a clean and cool place and just let it to naturally dry. Cleaners in Woodgreen warn you not to use a hair dryer to speed up the process as that will result as warping the pages. Once the book dries, the coffee traces should be all vanished.
